When all others wrote Ghana off as an "Oil Graveyard," an unenviable tag resulting from numerous crude oil exploratory failures, this Ghanaian-owned partnership not only still believed, but risked what industry analysts considered to be "unreasonably abundant" resources to attract the interest of a proven explorer. The eventual three-party Petroleum Agreement signed in July of 2004, the resulting discovery of hydrocarbons in June of 2007, and the highly anticipated production of First Oil in November of 2010 completed the story of an unlikely journey that ushered Ghana into the league of oil producing nations.
